Careless Driving in Scotland Campaign with David Coulthard

Campaign aims to reduce the number of fatalities on Scotland?s roads

The Road Safety Scotland campaign has enlisted David Coulthard to promote safe driving on country roads. The 41-year-old Scot, from Twynholm in Dumfries and Galloway, said he was backing the campaign because he had driven a lot on country roads, where ?Driving in the countryside comes with its own unique set of challenges?. The Campaign aims to reduce the number of accidents and deaths on the roads, brought on on careless driving.

Although the latest statistics for Road Traffic Incidents show that the number of deaths on Scotland?s roads are at an all time low, much can still be done. A total of 12,763 injuries and deaths were recorded during 2011, 575 fewer than in the previous year. The number of deaths were down 22 to 186 while injuries were down by 553 to 12,577. The first months of this year have already seen a number of fatal accidents on Scotland?s roads, particularly in rural areas of the countryside. It is important that you take extra precautions when driving on rural roads: a momentary lapse in concentration can be disastrous for you, your passengers, and other road users.

If you have been stopped by the police for a careless driving charge then it is important that you seek legal advice. Contact Road Traffic Law Solicitors for a free case consultation: at www.roadtrafficlaw.com or on 0800 612 9597
