Reports are out that TV mogul Simon Cowell is teaming up with Black Eyed Peas star Will.i.am in a bid to find a new technology entrepreneur.

The pair are said to be in talks over a new X Factor-style show that will see them hunting for a budding Steve Jobs or Bill Gates.

"We're working on a project called X Factor for Tech - and it's going to be out of this world," Will.i.am told The Sun.

The rapper, who was speaking at a technology conference in London today, said it could create a lot of jobs.

"It's about getting in touch with youth and giving them a platform to express themselves - whether that's in science or mathematics," he added.

Little else is known about what format the show will take, but with any luck it just might persuade the next generation of tech wizards and budding engineers to opt for a career in industry.
