Help us bring the Gary Family Home! | Christian Service Mission

For 100 years, 309 Mildred Avenue, in Pratt City, has served as the family homestead for the Gary Family.? 14 siblings, 7 brothers and 7 sisters, have been born and raised from this homestead.? The April 27, 2011 tornado took this home away from the Gary?s but the memories will never fade.? The Gary family has committed to be a ?lighthouse? for the Pratt City community and would like to have the opportunity to move back into a home on the lot that has held so many of their dear family memories.? As lifelong members of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Pratt City, they are a vital connection to rebuilding Pratt City?s spirit.

?

?If my old neighbors see me moving back into Pratt City, maybe that will inspire them to move back to our neighborhood as well? said Judy Gary.? Judy and her sister Carmen are the family members who will be living in the new residence on Mildred and they are looking forward to being a lighthouse neighbor to those around them.? Judy says, ?Things like the new gazebo across the street from the Pratt City Library and the community garden have been positive factors in drawing people back into the neighborhood.?? Christian Service Mission hopes to partner with neighbors and churches to bring more infrastructure back into the community.

?

How can you help rebuild Pratt City?? It will take us all coming together to build a stronger, healthier Pratt City.

?

?

We are excited to be partnering with the Episcopal Diocese of Alabama and Twin Construction to rebuild this home.
